I’m impressed by your keyboarding skills. Sad to see mine by comparison. This demo was very helpful, as I hadn’t fully understood the feature, and it is amazing how much autoCorrect, which I never liked, has the potential to make it viable.
Dean, I’ve never been a fan of auto correct either and until Direct Touch typing in iOS8, have always disabled it. This is truly the first time I’ve been OK with my phone second guessing me while typing. In terms of skill and speed, it definitely takes quite a bit of practice to develop the muscle memory needed to become accurate; I’ve set a little time aside each day to work on this a bit in the hopes that over time, I’ll improve. Personally, I still rely heavily on Braille input, but this is proving to be just as effective, hopefully more so with practice. Hi Steve, This is a great demo. On a related subject, it would seem as if they have changed the way you dismiss auto correct the single finger swipe down seems not to work the couple of times that I have tried it.
Christopher, I can’t get the one finger swipe down to dismiss auto correct either, although it does seem to hide the new predictions above the keyboard. I think it’s still going to take some time before we get this all figured out. 🙂
