• Just spent about 15 very frantic minutes trying to figure out why my very full Inbox suddenly contained no messages. Did I somehow delete them? Could I restore them from a backup? What was actually in there that I meant to save somewhere and obviously didn’t? Ultimately, I discovered that I somehow enabled a filtered view such that no messages were displayed. Yep, one stupid check box and, for a few minutes, my life seemed suddenly out of control. This experience has me thinking though: Why do I have so much stuff in my inbox and do I really need most of it? And, for those messages I do need, why is it that I haven’t found the time to put them somewhere safer before now? These are the things I ponder while I wait for my heart rate to return to a more normal range.

  • Checked in at Best Buy. Exchanging my Android device as sadly, my Razr stopped working. In related news, I love Best Buy, more people should shop here.

  • Regarding the Meta Quest 3 and screen reader accessibility, my excitement may be premature: it appears to be an experimental feature. Thanks to @alexhall@mastodon.social for sending me this article which contains recent info.

  • While attending #NFB25, I learned that Meta’s Meta Quest apparently has a screen reader now. No idea how well it works or what apps support it, but the idea of having a screen reader in a VR device is really fascinating to me.

  • Not sure what changed, but when I navigate pull-down menus with VoiceOver, it seems to now launch things whether I want it to or not. For example, context menu on a link launches the link before I can even get to the option to copy it. In Safari, if I open up my history list, the history table page thing automatically pops up before I can navigate the menu. This also means I can use almost nothing in my status menu bar as the first option seems to automatically activate. Anyone know of a setting i might have changed, or is VoiceOver just on a mission to make my life miserable?

  • Checked in at The Home Depot. Cousin’s Maine Lobster is here today, wonderful to have a little taste of Maine.

  • Apparently we’ve been under a tornado watch, but because I get so many notifications, I totally missed it. That’s the problem with notifications: with every app notifying about everything, none of the notifications are really important any more.
