Gabby's Christmas Wish and how you can help
> Dear Family and Friends
> Every year Steve and I, like many parents, asked our kids what they wanted for Christmas. This year Gabrielle gave us an answer that made us burst with pride. She stated that since she has so many things her Christmas wish would be to help the children that are having to stay in the hospital over the Christmas Holiday. She has used her own money to purchase many items on the Amplatz Children’s Hospital wish list. She would also like to reach out to all of our friends and family to see if they would like to help her with this effort. Amplatz Children’s Hospital is a part of the University of Minnesota Hospital located in Minneapolis. We have to deliver our donation by the 20th of December so they have enough time to wrap and assign the gifts. If you would like to help Gabrielle achieve her Christmas wish please let us know what you would like to donate. We can take donations via PayPal. Since Gabby is too young to have her own Paypal account we are using Steve’s. The email address is Steve@sawczyn.com.
> As her parents we are very proud of Gabrielle’s generous heart and want to encourage her endeavors. Thank you for considering this.
> Thanks So Much

This is very cool. How did you tweet a sound file?
There are actually a few ways to do this, two popular options are: Spreaker which is how I posted this particular bit of audio and Audioboo which is also a popular and fantastic service. Both services work very well with VoiceOver on iOS devices and allow audio submissions recorded on a PC, or Mac.

Call Me Maybe - for Choir and Orchestra (
Totally insane, but worth a listen if you’re familiar with this popular tune. Someone has way too much time, or creativity. Thanks to Shannon for tweeting this.

Do blind people hallucinate on LSD? « Mind Hacks
I confess, I’ve always wondered about this, although not enough to actually try it. You’d think one of my druggy blind friends could have provided me some insight here, but alas, they’ve let me down. Thanks to @seeingwithsound , I now know the answer.

Ivee Voice Activated Alarm Clock from ThinkGeek
A talking clock that can be set with your voice? First there was Moshi, and now there’s Ivee. In my opinion, Ivee’s voice is much clearer than that of the Moshi clock; check out this Youtube video. Want more info about the clock itself? Check out the Ivee web site.

Can anyone in space hear you scream? Scientists try to find out |
OK, the big question I have here is: why? Also, isn’t space a vacuum and wouldn’t that prevent a scream from being heard, regardless of how loud or awful it might be?

How much data will Skype use on my phone?
As I’m on a very limited data plan, I’ve been hesitant to try Skype over 3G until I could figure out approximately how much of my limited data, Skype might actually use. The following article, shared by Skype Support, answers this question very well.

The tech behind Felix Baumgartner’s stratospheric skydive
Almost as fascinating as the jump itself, the technology that made it a success is simply incredible. This has certainly been the year for science.

iPhone 5? People truly will believe anything.
In this video, people on the street are shown the existing iPhone 4S and are told it’s the new iPhone 5. THeir responses are hilarious. A big thanks to Randi and Marcy for making me aware of this awesomeness.

Does anyone comment on blog posts anymore?
Having worked with multiple blog platforms, one thing I’ve noticed is that nobody ever seems to comment on my posts. OK, I totally accept that the possibility exists that I don’t post anything worth commenting on, but still, I find it interesting.
Examining my own behavior, I must admit that I rarely comment on blog posts these days. Indeed, if I come across the post on Facebook or Twitter, I tend to use that medium to voice my comments. This differs from the … dare I say old days of RSS where the only possibility to comment was by going to the actual blog post. So, are comments on blog posts dying out? Do people prefer to just comment using Facebook/Twitter? And yes, i’m talking about commenting in general, not my blog specifically. :)
