Want finer control over your Mac’s volume setting? Here’s how.

I just came across a neat tip on Twitter which allows for finer volume adjustment on a Mac.  Indirectly, this tip lead me to another.  To adjust your volume in quarter increments VS full steps, hold the shift and option keys while pressing your Mac’s volume keys.  I suppose mouse users could simply drag the slider while holding option and shift, not sure.  My other tip, discovered because I was too lazy to hold down shift is that if you press option and one of the volume keys, you are automatically placed in the sound preferences pane.  I use this pain frequently, so it’s nice to know there’s a faster way to get there. Thanks to Frank for initially retweeting this tip.
